CCSO: TEENS RESCUED BY CCSO SAR AFTER GETTING 4X4 TRUCK STUCK IN SNOW *CORRECTION*
Posted: January 4th, 2013 8:25 PM

Please reference Clackamas County Sheriff's Office Case #13-397

On January 3, 2013, at about 10:30 pm, Clackamas County Sheriff's Office Search and Rescue deputies responded to South Hillockburn Road past the 45 Road, outside of Estacada, after being notified of two teens getting their truck stuck in the snow.

CCSO Searchers kept in contact with the two teenage males by cell phone throughout the night. They had food, shelter, and communication with the searchers.

At about noon today, CCSO deputies made their way to the teens, using ATV's equipped with snow tracks, and transported them to a Sno-Cat operated by Cascade Towing that completed the transport of the teens down to their parents. They were not in need of any medical attention.

Cascade Towing was able to remove 1977 Ford 4x4 pickup as well.

The driver is identified as Nicoli Pieri, age 17, of Oregon City, Oregon.

The passenger is identified as Jared Walton, age 17, of Cornelius, Oregon.

Apparently the two young men were planning to meet friends at the radio towers atop Goat Mountain to have a bonfire. When they learned their friends had already left, they decided to drive down to Helen Lake, where they got the truck stuck in the snowy, icy conditions.

The truck was not equipped with tire chains, or a shovel.

The Clackamas County Sheriff's Office reminds motorists to be prepared for winter driving conditions. Four-wheel drive vehicles are not a substitute for good decision making.
