At 5:45pm this evening Boring Fire District responded to a residential fire on the 24000 block of SE Filbert Rd. in Eagle Creek. Crews arrived on scene to find a two story house with heavy smoke coming from the second floor. The crews quickly went to work to extinguish the fire and clear out the smoke. Boring Fire District was assisted by Estacada Fire District and Sandy Fire District. There were 17 firefighters and five pieces of fire apparatus and three Command staff on scene working to put the fire out.
The two home owners heard a "pop" sound and soon thereafter discovered the upstairs filling up with smoke. They escaped without injury.
The cause of the fire and the estimated property loss is undetermined at this time. Pat Bigelow, Fire Marshal for Boring Fire District will be investigating.
Boring Fire District would like to remind people to have working smoke detectors on every level of their home and outside sleeping areas and to test them monthly.
