Posted: January 3rd, 2013 4:17 PM

###UPDATE###
Boring Fire Districts Fire Marshal, Pat Bigelow ruled the cause of Monday's mobile home fire that caused $10,000 in damage to be an unattended candle. To date, one dog and one cat are still missing when they fled the home. Boring Fire would like to remind people to keep candles away from combustible material and out of the reach of children and pets. As a safe alternative to candles, consider using flameless candles available in stores.
###
Shortly after 5:30 this morning Boring Fire Crews responded to the 32000 block of Compton Rd. on a report of a residential fire. Crews quickly arrived on scene to find heavy smoke coming from the eaves and fire in the bathroom of a mobile home. Crews quickly went to work extinguishing the fire. Boring Fire was assisted by Sandy Fire District and Gresham Fire Department moved up to cover the Boring Fire District during the fire.
The homeowner woke to the sound of his smoke alarms and was able to make it out of the house. He was taken to the hospital for cuts to his hands and feet. There were two dogs and a cat in the home at the time of the fire; they fled the home as well. Family members are searching for one of the dogs and the cat. The Fire Marshal remained on scene and the cause of the fire is under investigation at this time.
Boring Fire would like to remind people to have a working smoke alarm on every level of their home and outside sleeping areas.
