News Release from: Vancouver Police Dept.
VANCOUVER POLICE WILL "SHOP WITH A COP" FOR THE 20TH YEAR
Posted: December 6th, 2012 2:05 PM
This is the 20th year that members of the Vancouver Police Department and Vancouver Police Officers Guild have hosted "Shop with a Cop." This program is a partnership between the Guild, The Washington Department of Social and Humans Services, and Target. Shop with a cop is an opportunity for some special kids who are referred from DSHS to shop for Christmas presents accompanied by a uniformed Police Officer. The Vancouver Police Officers Guild funds the event, and Target makes their store available for the event outside of its normal business hours. Local high school students provide assistance to the event as one of the many service projects they undertake during the year. The goal is to make the holiday season a little brighter for these children and their families, and to give the kids an opportunity to interact in a positive way with the officers. The program shows these children that members of their community care about them.
This years event will take place on Saturday, December 8, 2012 at the Vancouver Plaza Target Store. If you would like information on how you can help, please contact Sergeant Scott Creager at (360)487-7424
