Update:

Officers identified a 16 yr old student at Evergreen High School who brought a single shot Rossi 410 gauge/ 22 caliber rifle shotgun combination to school to sell to another student. The barrels had been removed, and the firearm was inside a nylon case when the suspect left it under a table in a classroom that he was schedule to return to later in the day. A teacher observed the item and when he investigated it, found it to be a firearm with an accompanying box of ammunition. The teacher contact school administrators who subsequently contacted Vancouver Police. The 16 yr old was interviewed and arrested for felony possession of a stolen firearm, possessing a dangerous weapon on school grounds and unlawful possession of a firearm in the 2nd degree. He was booked into the Clark County Juvenile Detention facility. The student who was the prospective buyer of the firearm was also identified and interviewed, he was not arrested or charged.

There were no threats of violence nor did any violence occur at Evergreen High School today. It appears this was an incident where one student brought a weapon to school with the intent to sell it to another student. A complete search of the Evergreen High School by area law enforcement to include SWAT members and Detectives was done to assure the school was a safe place for students before the school was released to Evergreen School officials. The cooperation and communication with the Evergreen High School Administrative staff kept the confusion to a minimum and facilitated the evacuation of students during the incident.
