TVF&R FIRE CHIEF TO BATTLE BEAVERTON MAYOR AND BEAVERTON POLICE CHIEF IN "CELEBRITY RING-OFF"
Posted: December 6th, 2012 12:03 PM
Today, from noon to 1 pm, a Salvation Army bell-ringing competition is being held at the Beaverton Cedar Hills Crossing shopping center (3205 SW Cedar Hills Boulevard). The competition pits Fire Chief Mike Duyck against the Beaverton Mayor and Police Chief to determine which public official can raise the most money for The Salvation Army in an hour from passers-by. The fundraiser helps Washington County residents in need this season.
This friendly competition will give the Beaverton community a chance to join in the holiday spirit, by dropping donations into their choice of kettles. Each public official has vowed to pull out all the stops to lure donors to their kettle to earn the most money. The staff and firefighters of TVF&R hope Fire Chief Mike Duyck is successful in raising the most money and bringing back the "Best Bell-Ringer" plaque to display on their office wall until next December's "ring-off."
Media wishing to cover the event or individuals wishing to donate can look for the TVF&R antique fire engine staged at the event.
