Oregon State Police (OSP) arrested a 47-year old Salem woman Monday morning on several charges including Attempted Murder after she struck her 48-year old husband with her vehicle outside their residence following an alleged domestic-related incident. The victim, an off-duty Salem police officer, is reported in critical condition at Salem Hospital.

The initial investigation indicated on December 10, 2012 at approximately 1:19 a.m. the victim, KENNETH M. NUNEZ, age 48, was walking toward his motorcycle parked in front of his residence when he was struck by a 2003 Ford F-150 pickup driven by his wife, SHIRLEY TERESA NUNEZ, age 47. A few minutes before the reported crash, Salem police was responding to a reported incident in the 1800 block of Torrance Street S. where an adult female reported SHIRLEY NUNEZ, armed with a handgun, came to the residence. SHIRLEY NUNEZ allegedly entered the residence through a rear sliding glass door, pointed the handgun at the woman and briefly confronted her about a suspected relationship involving the woman and KENNETH NUNEZ before leaving in the pickup.

SHIRLEY NUNEZ was initially transported to Salem Hospital for a medical evaluation before OSP detectives arrested her and lodged her at the Marion County Jail on the following charges:

* Attempted Murder
* Assault in the First Degree
* Burglary in the First Degree
* Menacing
* Pointing a Firearm at Another Person
* Unlawful Use of a Weapon

The investigation is ongoing with the assistance of Keizer Police Department, Salem Police Department and Marion County District Attorney's Office.
