A Prineville-area man was arrested Monday after by Oregon State Police (OSP) troopers following an alcohol-involved non-injury hit-and-run crash at an intersection along Highway 126 about one mile west of Prineville.
According to Sergeant Keith Taylor, on December 3, 2012 at approximately 5:50 p.m., a 1995 Chevrolet pickup pulling a utility trailer loaded with a golf cart driven by BRIAN JAHN, age 41, from Prineville, was northbound on SW George Millican Road when it failed to stop at a stop sign at the intersection with Highway 126 and crashed into the left side of a commercial truck stopped in a turn lane. After the first impact, JAHN attempted to back up and struck the front of a 2007 Chrysler Aspen sport utility vehicle driven by an adult female.
JAHN initially stopped after the second collision and got out to speak with the Chrysler's driver. When she asked for his license he got back in the pickup and drove away. An OSP senior trooper patrolling in the area saw the pickup leave and stopped it a short distance away from the crash scene.
Subsequent investigation led OSP to arrest JAHN for DUII, Reckless Driving, Misdemeanor Hit & Run - Property Damage, and Recklessly Endangering Another Person (2 counts). He was also cited for Fail to Obey a Traffic Control Device.
OSP was assisted at the scene by Crook County Sheriff's Office, Prineville Police Department, and Prineville Fire Department.
