Posted: December 31st, 2012 8:14 AM

On December 30, 2012 at 11:58 p.m. Gresham Police responded to a report of a man shooting a gun in the parking lot of an apartment complex in the 17300 block of NE Halsey. Initial reports were that the male was firing a gun at a female in the lot. The suspect was described as a black male with very distinctive clothing. Officers arrived a few minutes later and contacted the victim in the parking lot. One officer spotted a man matching the suspect's description in the lot. As officers tried to contact the man, he refused to speak to them and went into an apartment.

Officers tried to speak with the man on the phone, but the conversations were short and sporadic. Other officers from Portland Police Bureau and Multnomah County Sheriff's Office were called in to assist Gresham Police on this incident. Officers located the man, 45 year-old Albert Gerrard LeRay of Portland, in an apartment and took him into custody without incident. Detectives interviewed the man and the woman and determined that they had a domestic relationship at some point. Officers also located the gun used during this incident and learned that it was a BB gun. LeRay was lodged at MCDC on one count of Menacing, one count of Assault in the 4th Degree, one count of Criminal Mischief in the 2nd Degree and a warrant from an unrelated case. No other suspects are outstanding and there is no additional information to be released at this time.
