Highway 6 was closed Thursday morning for about four hours near the Coast Range summit in Tillamook County while ODOT, Oregon State Police (OSP), Tillamook County Sheriff's Office and local tow companies worked to remove vehicles that became stuck in the snow blocking the highway.
On December 20 2012 at approximately 5:17 a.m., two commercial trucks became stuck on Highway 6 near milepost 21. Neither were damaged but had to be towed out of the deep snow in hazardous conditions before the roadway was opened. About 45 minutes earlier, Tillamook County Sheriff's Office covered a minor crash involving a tanker truck near milepost 39. Approximately 100 gallons of diesel spilled and was cleaned up by Hazmat crews.
