News Release from: Oregon City Police Dept.
OREGON CITY POLICE DEPARTMENT CHRISTMAS 9-1-1
Posted: December 19th, 2012 5:11 PM
The Oregon City Police Department has received a heartwarming response from our local churches, businesses and citizens this year for our Christmas 9-1-1 project. This is the second year our department has received these gifts from our community members.
Boxes were distributed shortly after Thanksgiving and were retrieved last week from the local churches, John L. Scott, Allstate Insurance, Oregon City Woman's Club and City Hall. Last Thursday evening we had twenty seven volunteers arrive at the Police Department to wrap all of the gifts received.
Because of the work our officers and detectives do, they have first hand knowledge of the real needs in our community. We see many families who cannot even afford a tree, much less Christmas presents. Because many of the interactions our officers have with children are due to some sort of event that is stressful, it is a great opportunity to have a positive interaction at a time kids will remember.
The officers will be delivering these gifts through Christmas Day.
