The Beaverton Arts Commission (BAC) adds to its collection of public art installations with the addition of two new sculptures. North Plains artist James Schmidt's work titled "Seahorse" was placed at Lombard Plaza in September, while Bruce West's "Stacked Cubes" was installed at Progress Ridge in early December. The Progress Ridge installation was a unique partnership between the BAC and Tualatin Hills Park & Recreation District.
"These new sculptures are a great addition to the city's public art collection," said Mayor Denny Doyle. "Their presence breathes life into our public spaces."
"Seahorse" and "Stacked Cubes" have been installed as public focal points for the city of Beaverton. These two works are part of the BAC's Temporary Sculpture Program, which selects work to be on display for two years. These new installations support the goal of the Beaverton Public Art Plan in creating lasting connections between people and memorable public places.
