On November 2, 2012, Vancouver Police were notified about an anonymous letter that was mailed to a Vancouver resident that contained information related to paid solicitation to commit murder. The letter was discovered by family members of the individual who was being solicited to commit the murder and was turned over to police.
Detectives from the Vancouver Police Department Major Crimes Unit took over the investigation which revealed the suspect had provided specific information to include the address where the intended victim lived, time of day when the crime should be committed, vehicle description information on the intended victim, and other instructions on how the crime should be committed. The victim in this case was not injured and the plan was never acted upon by the individual that received the letter.
Detectives analyzed forensic and computer evidence linking the suspect to this crime and on November 27, 2012 Lori Goulet, 39, of Vancouver, was arrested for Criminal Solicitation of Murder. Goulet was booked into the Clark County Jail.
