Oregon State Police (OSP) troopers are continuing the investigation into Wednesday night's single vehicle fatal traffic crash along Highway 95 about eight miles east of Burns Junction in Malheur County that resulted in the death of a Sacramento, California woman. The victim's name is released in this update.
According to Lieutenant Mark Duncan, on November 28, 2012 at approximately 10:50 p.m., a 1996 Dodge Ram pickup driven by DEBBY LEE RAYMOND, age 56, from Sacramento, California, was southbound on Highway 95 near milepost 58 when the driver lost control on the icy roadway. The pickup traveled across the northbound lanes and onto the shoulder where it rolled onto its top. RAYMOND was pronounced deceased at the scene. She was using safety restraints.
The area where the fatal crash occurred is the highway for which OSP issued a news release Wednesday urging travelers headed from Boise to Nevada for a weekend football game to use extra caution. OSP and Malheur County deputies have planned for targeted, increased enforcement Friday through Sunday. OSP troopers from the Ontario Area Command office are continuing the investigation. Jordan Valley Fire & Rescue, Jordan Valley Ambulance, and ODOT assisted at the scene.
