Posted: November 26th, 2012 4:24 PM

Oregon State Police (OSP), with the assistance of Marion County Medical Examiner, is completing the investigation into the death of an adult male whose body was found Thanksgiving afternoon along the shoulder of Highway 99E near Labish Garden Road NE north of Salem. The man has been identified and his name is released in this update following confirmation of next of kin notifications and a determination that the cause of death was not the result of a crime following an autopsy by the Oregon State Medical Examiner's Office.

On November 23, 2012, an autopsy determined FRANK THOMAS HORNER, age 61, from northeast Salem, died after having a medical emergency - probable heart attack - while taking a walk along the highway. His body was found November 22nd at approximately 12:54 p.m. after Marion County deputies and medical personnel confirmed a report that a body was seen near the highway lying in a water-filled ditch. OSP troopers, detectives, and the medical examiner responded to the scene to conduct an investigation.

OSP Criminal Investigation Division Detective Derek Schott is the lead investigator.
