Hwy 43 north of Lake Oswego, at Breyman Avenue, was shut down for several hours due to a motor vehicle accident in the early hours of Monday November 26th 2012. Lake Oswego Firefighters were dispatched to the wreck at 1:27 am and arrived within minutes to find a vehicle that had struck a tree and rolled several times down the highway. The driver was found still seat belted into the vehicle and airbags had deployed.
Battalion Chief David Morris, a Lake Oswego Fire Department spokesman, said that there was significant damage to the entire vehicle and that firefighters had to use their hydraulic extrication tools to cut the patient from the vehicle.
The driver, whose name was unavailable, was the only occupant of the vehicle. He was transported to OHSU Hospital with life threatening injuries.
Hwy 43 was closed for several hours while the accident scene was investigated and the vehicle was removed. The cause of the crash remains under investigation by Multnomah County Sheriff's Department.
