AWARD PRESENTED TO GLADSTONE POLICE OFFICER STEVE MIXSON

The Oregon Peace Officers Association presented their Distinguished Service Award to Officer Steve Mixson of the Gladstone Police Department last Friday at their annual awards banquet. Several officers, deputies, state troopers, reserve officers and telecommunicators from around the state of Oregon were also recognized for their achievements and acts of bravery.

Officer Mixson received his award for creating the first Gladstone Police Department K-9 unit. Officer Mixson's partner, K-9 Dyno, has become a source of community pride for Gladstone. In their first six months as a team, Officer Mixson and Dyno had 14 captures of criminal suspects. Officer Mixson was also recognized for his work as GPD's defensive tactics instructor and creating a program that will help keep officers safe.
