Local Community Bank Recommits to Sherwood Community

The City of Sherwood's continuing efforts at revitalizing its historic Old Town core area received another positive shot in the arm this past week with the announcement by the Bank of Oswego to relocate their current Sherwood banking center into a historic building located at the corner of Washington Street and Railroad Street. Since opening their current location on Roy Rodgers Road in 2009, the locally owned bank has been providing individualized banking and lending services to professionals and small businesses in the Sherwood area.

The move to the historic D.M. Pankhard Building indicates a level of commitment by the bank to promoting and sustaining economic growth in Sherwood. "With the exciting addition of one of the fastest growing private companies in Oregon to our historic Old Town, I am certainly bullish on the future of our community's historic core," stated Mayor Keith Mays.

The bank plans to lend a strong nod to the historic lines of the structure, which was built in 1915. Renovation of the office space will be done under the direction of Phil Chek and Associates from Lake Oswego. The building is being renovated into one of its earlier uses since it was once used as a bank in the mid-20th century. "We are committed to being a 'community' bank in the true sense of the word," states Bridget Smith, Director of Marketing & Business Relations for the bank. "The businesses, non-profits and schools of Sherwood recognize our genuine interest in offering resources which help support the social well-being of the community." The bank hopes to complete their renovation and be open for business by mid-January 2013.
