Passenger Dies From Injuries Following October 14th Crash on Highway 126W near Walton in Lane County

PASSENGER DIES FROM INJURIES FOLLOWING OCTOBER 14TH CRASH ON HIGHWAY 126W NEAR WALTON IN LANE COUNTY

A Florence-area woman died Saturday from injuries sustained during an October 14th two vehicle traffic crash on Highway 126W near Walton in Lane County. Oregon State Police (OSP) is continuing the investigation.

On October 14, 2012, a 1999 Dodge Durango driven by DAVID D. BECK, age 52, from Springfield, was eastbound on Highway 126W near milepost 36 traveling uphill negotiating a curve in the left lane passing another vehicle when BECK lost control. The Dodge crossed the centerline and collided with a westbound 2011 Toyota Prius driven by RICHARD J. JOSLIN, age 74, from Florence. Both vehicles came to rest on the westbound side of the highway.

The Toyota's right front passenger, SHAREN ANN JOSLIN, age 72, from Florence, was transported by ambulance to Sacred Heart Medical Center at RiverBend. OSP learned today she died from her injuries October 20th.

RICHARD JOSLIN and BECK received minor injuries. The Dodge's passenger, MELANIE K. WHITEHEAD, age 51, from Springfield, was also transported to Sacred Heart Medical Center at RiverBend with non-life threatening injuries.

OSP troopers from the Florence Area Command office are continuing the investigation. Trooper Leland Farrar is the lead investigator.

OSP was assisted at the scene by Lane County Rureal Fire Department and ODOT..
