A stubborn gas fed residential fire challenged crews from Clackamas Fire District early Sunday morning. Reports from neighbors behind the involved home began streaming into 911 dispatchers at 0315. Due to extensive remodeling, large amounts of household products stacked throughout, and natural gas flowing from a broken supply line, it took firefighters over 2 hours to contain and control the blaze located at 5135 SE El Centro Way in Oak Grove.
With over 60% involvement of the structure on arrival, and rapid flame growth, the two story home surrounded by large fir trees is deemed a total loss.
At the time of press release, it is unknown whether the home was occupied during the fire. One firefighter was sent to the hospital via private ambulance, for an injury sustained from a fall while operating at the back of the structure.
Fire investigators are on scene to gather information and process the scene for origination and cause of the incident.
