Oregon State Police (OSP) is continuing the investigation into an early Monday morning single vehicle traffic crash along Highway 199 near Cave Junction that resulted in the death of one person and serious injuries to two others. The name of the deceased passenger victim will be released this afternoon.

According to Sergeant First Class Jeff Proulx, on October 22, 2012 at approximately 3:00 a.m., a 1990 Mitsubishi driven by AUSTIN LAWRENCE, age 45, from Kerby, was northbound on Highway 199 near milepost 27 when it traveled off the highway and struck a tree. The vehicle's three occupants were trapped inside the car and extricated by personnel from Illinois Valley Fire District.

A 28-year old male passenger was pronounced deceased at the scene.

LAWRENCE was critically injured and transported by AMR ambulance to Three Rivers Community Hospital.

Rear seat passenger identified as CLYDE GREENE, age 26, from Kerby, was transported by ambulance to Three Rivers Community Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

OSP troopers from the Grants Pass work site are continuing the investigation with the assistance of an OSP collision reconstructionist and Josephine County District Attorney's Office. ODOT assisted at the scene with traffic control.
