Oregon State Police (OSP) troopers are continuing the investigation into Saturday night's motorcycle-involved fatal traffic crash that resulted in the death of an adult female along Highway 126 about two miles west of Redmond. The highway re-opened after an over two hour closure. The victim's name will be released Sunday after confirmation of next of kin notification.
Preliminary information according to Sergeant Keith Taylor indicates on October 20, 2012 at approximately 7:20 p.m. the 35-year old victim was operating a 2007 Honda motorcycle eastbound on Highway 126 near milepost 109 following two other motorcycles when they began to slow down for a vehicle ahead of them. The victim didn't slow quick enough and hit the rear tire of one of the motorcycles. She fell off the motorcycle onto the pavement and her helmet came off her head.
Redmond Fire & Rescue personnel responded first and pronounced the woman deceased at the scene.
No one else was reportedly injured.
OSP troopers from the Bend Area Command office are continuing the investigation. OSP was assisted at the scene by Deschutes County Sheriff's Office, Redmond Fire & Rescue, and ODOT.
The highway was re-opened about 9:45 p.m.
No photographs for release at this time.
