On October 19, 2012, at about 2:45 p.m. in the 12000 block of SE 82nd Avenue, Clackamas, a husband and wife were robbed of their English Bulldog pup at gunpoint. The male victim was identified as Jim Steele, age 68, of Oregon City. The female victim was identified as Pat Steele, age 62, also of Oregon City.
Jim Steele had arranged to meet the suspect to sell him the pup, after advertising it for sale on the website for his business, Aldercrest Kennels. The advertised price for the pup was $2,000.
The suspect looked at the pup briefly, then pulled out a semi-auto handgun, pointed it at the victims and told them to give him their wallets, watches, and cell phones. The victims refused and the suspect then reached into the car, grabbed the pup, and ran to a waiting car driven by a second suspect.
The suspects drove off towards Sunnyside Road and though the victims briefly gave chase, they quickly lost sight of the vehicle. They called 911 from the side of the road on I205N.
The first suspect was described as a black male adult, between 20 and 30 years old, 5'8" tall, and 150 pounds. He was wearing a green sweatshirt with black patches of some kind on it, as well as some kind of hat. He was armed with a silver colored semi-automatic handgun.
The second suspect driving the car was only described as a black male adult.
The vehicle was described as a dirty black, 1995 Acura, Washington plate 246YRU, with an unknown state trip permit in the rear window.
Deputies are investigating the incident as a robbery. The victims did not report any injuries.
