UPDATE: NAME RELEASED - FATAL OFFICER-INVOLVED SHOOTING INVESTIGATION IN THE DALLES, OREGON

The following news release is sent out at the request of the Wasco County District Attorney's Office:
Oregon State Police (OSP) Criminal Investigation Division detectives, with the assistance of Wasco County Sheriff's Office and Wasco County District Attorney's Office, are continuing the investigation into the fatal officer-involved shooting that occurred about midnight Tuesday in The Dalles. OSP Forensic Services Division crime lab personnel responded to the scene to assist investigators with processing the scene for evidence during the day.
The person shot by The Dalles Police Department police officers is identified as GERALD ARTHUR STOWELL JR, age 50. STOWELL was a resident where the shooting occurred at 750 Hostetler Street.
The names of the involved officers will be released later this week after interviews by detectives. Both are on paid administrative leave, a standard procedure during officer-involved shooting investigations.
