Posted: September 21st, 2012 9:32 PM

Oregon State Police (OSP) troopers are still on scene investigating Friday night's two-vehicle traffic crash that occurred at the intersection of Highway 26 and Firwood Road east of Sandy. The highway is closed but a detour is getting traffic through the area. The names and additional details will be released Saturday.

Preliminary information indicates on September 21, 2012 at approximately 7:00 p.m. a pickup driven by a juvenile-age male stopped on Firwood Road was attempting to cross the eastbound lanes of Highway 26 to turn westbound when it pulled into the path of an eastbound pickup pulling a trailer. The eastbound pickup crashed into the driver's side of the other pickup.

The juvenile male driver was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The eastbound pickup's two occupants were reportedly not injured.

OSP troopers from the Portland Area Command office are continuing the investigation. Clackamas County Sheriff's Office, Sandy Police Department, Sandy Fire Department, and ODOT are assisting at the scene.

No other information or photographs to be released at this time.
