FATAL MOTORCYCLE CRASH - HIGHWAY 26 WEST OF MITCHELL

Oregon State Police (OSP) is continuing the investigation into the cause of Friday afternoon's fatal motorcycle crash along Highway 26 near the Crook / Wheeler County line that resulted in the death of a 54-year old man. The victim's name will be released Saturday afternoon to allow more time for notifications.
According to Sergeant Mike Turner, on September 21, 2012 at approximately 5:25 p.m. a 2008 Yamaha motorcycle operated by the victim was eastbound on Highway 26 near milepost 52 negotiating a curve when it struck a guardrail. The victim was found ejected off the motorcycle by passing motorists who started emergency medical care until relieved by firefighters and paramedics from Mitchell Fire Department and Crook County Fire & Rescue. The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene.
OSP troopers from Prineville and Bend offices are continuing the investigation. Crook County Sheriff's Office and ODOT assisted at the scene. Trooper Andrea Vaughn is the lead investigator.
