Oregon State Police (OSP) is continuing the investigation into the cause of a motorcycle crash that resulted in the death of a Burns-area man Saturday afternoon on Highway 205 about ten mile south of Burns.

On September 14, 2012 at approximately 5:02 p.m. a passing motorist reported a motorcycle crash along Highway 205 near milepost 8. OSP, Harney County Sheriff's Office and Harney County EMS responded to the scene where JAMES REEVES, age 62, from Burns, was critically injured. REEVES was transported to Harney District Hospital where he was later pronounced deceased.

Preliminary investigation indicates the 2010 Harley Davidson motorcycle operated by REEVES was southbound when it traveled across the northbound lanes and flipped multiple times before coming to rest in a bordering ditch. The crash is thought to have occurred about 15 minutes before it was reported. REEVES was ejected off the motorcycle and was wearing a protective helmet.

OSP, with the assistance of Harney County Sheriffs Office, is continuing the investigation into the cause of the crash. Trooper James King is the lead investigator.

ODOT assisted at the scene with traffic control. The highway was not closed.
