CCSO: HAYES MURDER INVESTIGATION UPDATE SEPTEMBER 24, 2012

Clackamas County Sheriff's Office investigators have begun the lengthy process of pulling together massive amounts of information from the case and have the following available for release at this time.
Detectives have confirmed that Erik John Meiser is the sole person responsible for the murder of Fredrick Hayes. There are no other suspects.
Meiser became aware at some point last week that he was the suspect in the case. He intentionally changed his appearance and fled the area to avoid detection and arrest.
Clackamas County Sheriff's Office investigators are working with law-enforcement agencies to determine if Meiser is responsible for other crimes in the region. We are communicating with law enforcement officials in Ogden, Utah about pertinent details of the two criminal cases.
Sheriff's Office investigators are working closely with the Clackamas County District Attorney's Office in preparation for Grand Jury, at a time to be determined. Please refer any court/criminal charge related questions to the District Attorney's Office.
