PORTLAND FIRE & RESCUE RESPONDS TO MORNING HOUSE FIRE
Posted: August 27th, 2012 9:29 AM
Fire crews were dispatched to a house fire (2320 NW Mill Pond Rd) at 6:35 am. Engine 27 (Forest Heights) arrived to flames spreading up the side of the house. The house was vacant and is in the midst of a remodel. Engine 16 (Sylvan), Station 3 (NW Pearl District) and Tualatin Valley Fire Engine 60 arrived moments later to assist with fire suppression and to help protect neighboring homes.
The fire originated on the outside of the home and quickly spread to the Ty vex Home Wrap. The Home Wrap is combustible and will burn if temperatures reach 750F (400C). The Wrap also keeps moisture out, so firefighters had to put ladders up and and check under the remaining Ty vex to ensure that the fire did not extend into the house.
The cause of the fire is undetermined at this time and damaged is estimated at $20,000.
