OSP AND ODOT TRAFFIC ADVISORY FOR HOOD TO COAST RELAY

With 17,400 participants registered, over 3800 volunteers providing support, and approximately 2500 support vehicles, motorists are asked to watch for runners and walkers, as well as increased traffic and congestion, beginning Friday morning from Timberline Lodge on Mt. Hood and ending Saturday evening in Seaside.
The 26th annual Hood to Coast Relay is scheduled to take place Friday, August 24 and Saturday, August 25. Hood to Coast organizers sent out a news release August 1st with a reminder that the following areas could encounter delays because of relay-related traffic:
* Highway 26 (Mt. Hood to Gresham): from Friday, August 24, at 4:30 a.m. to 11:45 p.m.
* Highway 30 (Portland to St. Helens): from Friday, August 24, at 5:15 a.m. to Saturday, August 25, at 8:40 a.m.
* Highway 47: from Friday, August 24, at 4:00 p.m. to Saturday, August 25, at 12:30 p.m.
* Highway 202: from Friday, August 24, at 4:00 p.m. to Saturday, August 25, at 8:30 p.m.
* Young's River Loop: from Saturday, August 25, at 2:00 a.m. to 4:45 p.m.
* Lewis & Clark Road: from Saturday, August 25, at 4:30 a.m. to 8:15 p.m.
* Highway 101 (Seaside area): from Saturday, August 25, at 4:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.
Construction projects
Some highways along the route have construction projects under way. ODOT and its contractors are suspending work and making every effort to minimize the effects these projects have on the event. Please use caution when overtaking and passing runners, walkers and support vehicles; please pay special attention through construction zones.
US Highway 26 (Mt. Hood Highway) lane restriction east of Sandy
Westbound traffic on US Highway 26 (Mt. Hood Highway) near milepost 30 east of Sandy will be narrowed to one lane approaching the top of Cherryville Hill to provide for some support vehicle parking. This section is on the west end of a two-mile section of center cable barrier installed last year to reduce crossover traffic crashes.
Increased enforcement
State, county and city police agencies along the relay route will have a visible patrol enforcement presence. Highway 26 between Timberline Road and Gresham will be worked extensively by Oregon State Police, Clackamas and Multnomah County Sheriff's Offices, and local police agencies. Additional enforcement efforts targeting relay route roads will occur west of Portland to Seaside. Anyone observing a dangerous driver or hazardous highway incident is asked to contact Oregon State Police dispatch at 1-800-452-7888, or call 9-1-1.
