OREGON CITY MAN ARRESTED FOLLOWING ATTEMPT TO ELUDE FROM OSP AND OREGON CITY POLICE
Posted: August 25th, 2012 8:42 AM

A 22-year old Oregon City man was arrested late Thursday night following an attempt to elude from Oregon State Police (OSP) and Oregon City police along Highway 99E (SE McLoughlin Boulevard). His attempt to elude ended at a dead end street near Oregon City Police Department where he was taken into custody.

Before midnight, August 23, 2012, an OSP trooper attempted to stop a 2004 Infiniti I35 four-door for a speed violation on Highway 99E southbound at SE Jennings Avenue. The vehicle attempted to elude recklessly, going through red lights and was traveling at a high rate of speed. At one point, it came to a dead end street where OSP tried to unsuccessfully block it in. The vehicle continued eluding on area roads, eventually returning back southbound on Highway 99E at over 100 mph where OSP terminated their attempt to stop the vehicle because of an approaching construction zone where it nearly collided with a construction work vehicle.

Oregon City police spotted the vehicle a short distance later and it tried to elude their officers until it came onto a dead end in the 400 block of Jackson Street. Oregon City police detained the driver and turned him over to OSP for custody.

JASON LYNN LYTSELL, age 22, from Oregon City, was lodged in the Clackamas County Jail on the following charges:

* Felony Attempt to Elude in a Vehicle
* DUII
* Reckless Driving
* Recklessly Endangerment of Highway Workers
* Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance - Methamphetamine
