Multnomah Co. Sheriff's Office: Sandy area man killed in crash in Corbett:
On August 25, 2012, at about 1945 hours, deputies from the Multnomah County Sheriff's Office (MCSO) were dispatched to a fatal traffic crash in the 39100 block of SE Gordon Creek Road in rural Southeast Multnomah County.
Gar Riggs, age 60, of Sandy, was killed when the 1999 Yamaha motorcycle he was operating was struck head-on by a 2012 Dodge Ram truck that was operated by Brian Leymaster, age 42, of Corbett. The initial investigation indicates that the Dodge Ram truck had crossed the center-line and was in the wrong lane when it struck the Yamaha. Leymaster was taken into custody and lodged at the Multnomah County Detention Center on one count of Manslaughter in the first degree, Criminally Negligent Homicide, Felony Hit and Run, Driving Under the Influence of Intoxicants, and Reckless Driving.
The Multnomah County Vehicular Crimes Team is continuing the investigation. SE Gordon Creek Road was closed for approximately four hours during the initial investigation. The Multnomah County Rural Fire Protection District #14 and the Multnomah County Roads Department assisted at the scene.
