A commercial truck driver was cited following an Oregon State Police (OSP) investigation into an early Tuesday morning rollover crash that closed Highway 95 south of Burns Junction for 8 hours in southern Malheur County.
According to Sergeant Mark Duncan, on August 21, 2012 at approximately 6:00 a.m. (MDT) a truck pulling a semi-trailer containing electronic equipment driven by TRAVIS GURNEY, age 36, from Caldwell, Idaho, was northbound on Highway 95 near milepost 72 when the front right tire traveled onto the gravel shoulder. As the truck and trailer continued off the highway, GURNEY over-corrected to the left leading to the truck and trailer overturning onto their side totally blocking the highway.
GURNEY was treated for minor injuries at the scene but not transported to a hospital. He was cited by OSP for Failure to Drive Within Lane. He was driving for Sauer Transport. The truck and trailer were heavily damaged.
OSP was assisted at the scene by ODOT, McDermott EMS, and Malheur County Sheriff's Office.
