Law Enforcement Will do Their Part with Extra DUI Patrols from August 17-Sept. 3, 2012
Clark County, WA - Law enforcement will conduct extra DUI patrols in Clark County from August 17-Sept. 3, 2012. Public education combined with strict enforcement is a proven method for reducing DUI crashes and fatalities. However, law enforcement officers can't do it alone.

In Clark County in 2011- 96 impaired drivers were arrested for DUI and statewide 1,824 were arrested during a similar time period. DUI patrols will be working on county roads, state routes, and city streets during this period to reduce the number of impaired drivers on our roads.

We are encouraging everyone to do their part and help get impaired drivers off the road! If you see a drunk driver report it to 9-1-1. Although not an emergency, it could possibly save a life even yours! it is important that law enforcement be made aware of any dangerous activity! Do your part to prevent a person who is impaired from getting behind the wheel. Choose your ride! Call a cab! Call a friend! Take their keys!

This is why officers from Battle Ground, Camas, Ridgefield, Vancouver Police Depts., The Clark County Sheriff's Office and the Washington State Patrol will commit extra patrol hours to make the roadways safer for everyone. These efforts are part of Washington's Strategic Highway Safety Plan to reduce traffic fatalities to zero by the year 2030.

The Clark County Target Zero Traffic Safety Task Force organizes and supports this enforcement effort. They urge you to join the team to prevent drunk driving.

Funding for this enforcement activity is provided by Washington Traffic Safety Commission. For additional information about the Washington Traffic Safety Commission, visit www.wtsc.wa.gov.
