Full Details
Washington County Sheriff's Child Abuse Detectives arrested and charged 63-year-old James
Coonrod from Beaverton with two counts of first degree Sex Abuse in October 2010. Mr.
Coonrod was sentenced to five years in prison. He is currently serving his prison sentence at
Eastern Oregon Correctional Institution. Detectives recently received information about
additional victims while Mr. Coonrod has been incarcerated.
Mr. Coonrod and his wife Donna Coonrod operated a child foster care home at 17371 SW
Hurrell Lane in Beaverton. They had taken in dozens of children during the time they operated
the foster home from 1994 through 2009.
Since August 2011, Detectives have received information from four additional females alleging
they had been raped or sexually abused by Mr. Coonrod while they lived in the foster care
home. The abuse is believed to have occurred between 1994 and 2007. The abuse began
when the female victims ranged in age from four to eight years old. It is thought the abuse
occurred at the Hurrell Lane address.
Last month, Mr. Coonrod was charged with additional crimes for the incidents reported and
investigated since August 2011. He was charged with three counts of Rape 1, three counts of
Sex Abuse 1, and one count of Unlawful Sexual Penetration 1. If convicted of these additional
charges, he faces an additional 550 months in prison.
Washington County Child Abuse Detectives believe there are more victims that have not come
forward. Detectives ask if you have any information, please call the Washington County
Sheriff's Office at (503) 846-2500.
