News Release from: City of Beaverton
CITY OF BEAVERTON ENHANCES PUBLIC SAFETY WITH STREET MAINTENANCE OVERLAY
Posted: August 23rd, 2012 9:30 AM
The city of Beaverton will resurface Lombard Avenue between 5th Street and Allen Boulevard on Aug. 27-30, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
"When streets are in poor condition it impacts response times for police, fire and EMTs," said Peter Arellano, public works director. "It also eliminates potholes, decreases road-base failures and provides a safe surface for driving, biking, walking or skateboarding."
The city intends to complete the work as quickly as possible, while providing the highest quality overlay.
The detour route for Lombard during the maintenance overlay will be one-way traffic only, traveling south bound (from 5th Street moving towards Allen Boulevard). All north bound traffic will be detoured, if traveling west bound on Allen, please use Hall Boulevard. If traveling east bound on Allen Boulevard, please use Alger Avenue.
Bus stops will be closed on Lombard Avenue for north bound routes from Allen Boulevard to 5th Street (three stops in total). Traffic delays will be expected at the intersection of 5th Street and for commuters traveling north bound on Lombard from Allen Boulevard or any intersecting streets off of Lombard between 5th Street and Allen Boulevard.
"It's crucial that we invest in our city's infrastructure," said Mayor Denny Doyle. "Beaverton cares about its roads. We're proactively maintaining our streets to prevent them from falling into disrepair."
