Oregon State Police (OSP) is continuing the investigation into Friday evening's single vehicle fatal traffic crash that resulted in the death of an adult female and injury to the male driver along Highway 199 in Josephine County. The names of the two occupants are released in this update.

According to Sergeant Jeff Allison, on July 13, 2012 at approximately 8:20 p.m. a Mazda sport utility vehicle driven by JOSHUA J. BARTLEY, age 21, from Grants Pass, was northbound on Highway 199 near milepost 40 when it traveled off the right side of the higwhay and collided into a tree.

Passenger SHARON HOPPE BULLIS, age 65, from Brookings, was pronounced deceased at the scene. BARTLEY was transported by ambulance to Three Rivers Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Both were using safety restraints but HOPPE BULLIS had the shoulder harness improperly used underneath her arm. The vehicle's airbags deployed.

OSP troopers from the Grants Pass worksite are continuing the investigation into the cause of the crash. Senior Trooper Scott Holsworth is the lead investigator.

OSP was assisted at the scene by Illinois Valley Fire & Rescue and ODOT. Traffic was reduced to one lane for 4 hours during the investigation.
