UPDATE: BODIES RECOVERED - WASCO COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE INVESTIGATING DOUBLE DROWNING AT WHITE RIVER FALLS EAST OF TYGH VALLEY

Wasco County Sheriff's Office Undersheriff Lane Magill confirmed the recovery of both drowning victims late Tuesday afternoon at White River Falls east of Tygh Valley. Next of kin have been notified and the names of the two victims is released in this update.
According to Undersheriff Lane Magill, on July 10, 2012 at approximately 5:45 p.m., diver Mark Angel from Redmond was assisting Wasco County Search & Rescue when he located and recovered the two bodies at the bottom of the fall's pool where they were last scene Monday afternoon. The two victims drowned July 9, 2012 at approximately 2:18 p.m. after they slipped into the water as they tried to walk behind the main falls to take a photograph.
The victims are identified as JONATHAN BRETT McLEAN, age 26, from Portland, Oregon, and CALEB JUSTICE, age 15, from Vancouver/Camas, Washington area. They were part of several church groups staying at the Tygh Valley Fairgrounds.
White River Day Use area is about four miles east of Tygh Valley along Highway 216. The day use area will re-open to public access.
Oregon State Police will not answer any questions related to their investigation and recovery efforts.
