GRESHAM, Ore. - Arts and Culture organizations are invited apply for the Gresham Cultural Assistance Grant Program. The grant program supports arts and culture activities in our community. The Gresham City Council allocated $12,500 for grants this year. The maximum amount awarded to any one organization is $3,750.
Grants are available to non-profit organizations located within Gresham city limits or to Gresham residents who partner with a non-profit organization. Each year the Council sets funding priorities for the grants. Priorities for the 2012/13 grant cycle include projects that focus on:
* Creative people and organizations - strengthen and support arts, heritage and humanities organizations and individual artists, performances and historians
* Heritage and History - tell and build upon the stories of Gresham
* Participation in the Arts, Heritage and Humanities - develop audiences to sustain culture and community building, as well as economic development.
Last year the City awarded grants to six projects including the Center for the Arts Foundation in collaboration with the Portland Columbia Symphony Orchestra for Symphonic Safari, Center for the Arts Foundation for Music Mondays, Rockwood Business Coalition and Police Activities League for a Multicultural Winter Celebration at the Plaza del Sol, Mt. Hood Community College for "Art in the Lobby" and the Gresham Sister City Association for sister city student exchanges.
