Shortly before 10:00am Clackamas Fire District #1 crews responded to a reported commercial fire at the Tam O'Shanter Apartments at 4496 SE Boardman Ave. Crews arrived to find an attached storage room fully involved. The fire was quickly extinguished and confined to the storage room with no extension to the living spaces of the attached apartments. As a precaution, residents of the adjacent apartments were temporarily evacuated but have since been cleared to go back inside.
The fire was reported by several bystanders who reported heavy black smoke billowing from the storage room. 911 was quickly called and fire crews were able to arrive and confine the fire, limiting damage. At this time the cause of the fire is under investigation and early damage estimates are in $12,000-15,000 range. No injuries were reported.
Clackamas Fire would like to remind people that calling 911 early in an incident is the best practice and will allow Firefighters to arrive quickly and stop the spread of fire.
