Oregon State Police (OSP), in conjunction with the Coos County District Attorney's Office, is continuing the investigation into the cause of Wednesday morning's traffic crash that seriously injured a bicyclist along Highway 101 just north of the Coos / Curry County line. The bicyclist's name will be released Thursday after confirmation that family residing out of the country has been notified.

According to Sergeant John Keeler, on July 25, 2012 at approximately 11:25 a.m. a 1997 Toyota 4-Runner driven by BETHANY A. PECK, age 62, from Langlois, was southbound on Highway 101 near milepost 285 when it struck a bicyclist along the southbound shoulder. The 52-year old bicyclist from Netherlands was transported by Bay City Ambulance to Bay City Hospital with serious, non-life threatening injuries. He was reportedly traveling alone and wearing a protective helmet.

PECK was not injured. She has been cooperating with the investigation and no enforcement action taken at this time. Her husband, WILLIAM PECK, age not available, came to the scene and was visibly impaired. An OSP senior trooper subsequently arrested WILLIAM PECK for Driving Under the Influence of Intoxicants and transported him to the Coos County Jail.

OSP troopers from the Coos Bay Area Command office, with the assistance of the Coos County District Attorney's Office, are continuing the investigation.

OSP was assisted at the scene by ODOT.
