Posted: July 13th, 2012 1:13 PM

At about 12:15 p.m., on July 13, 2012, divers from the Clackamas County Water Rescue Consortium located the dead body Fernando Ortega Becerra, age 23, of Portland, Oregon, about 600 feet downstream from where he was last seen. The body was located in about 15 feet of water.

The family has been notified of the death.

The Clackamas County Medical Examiner will be determining the cause and manner of death.

Mr. Ortega Becerra was not wearing a life jacket when he was located.

The Clackamas County Sheriff's Office reminds all boaters and other users of the rivers and lakes in Clackamas County to wear a life jacket.

Mr. Ortega Becerra was not required by Oregon law to wear a life jacket while floating on an inner tube. However, if he had been wearing an appropriate life jacket, this tragedy would likely never have occurred.
