On Tuesday July 10th, Explorers from post #893 with the Clark County Sheriff's Office assembled as they regularly do on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of each month at 6 PM for their regular meeting at the Public Safety Complex (505 NW 179th Street). After Physical training, and a class in finger printing, the lead adviser (Sergeant Shane Gardner) introduced a very special guest speaker.

Ronnie Ramos is the Managing Director of Digital Communications for the NCAA and is in Vancouver, WA. on vacation with his family from his home in Indianapolis, IN. A friend of the family, Sergeant Gardner asked Ronnie if he would be willing to give a presentation to the Explorers about social media as it relates to community engagement, pertinent content, image branding, and being present in the mediums our community spends a large percentage of their time in. Ronnie immediately agreed and cleared his schedule for the meeting.

"Our communities are living in these digital mediums and we need to have a presence in them as well," said Sergeant Gardner. "These Explorers are growing up with social media. I want them to understand it, and be able to incorporate it into their service to our community. What better way to demonstrate social media's influence to our young adults than having the person responsible for supervising content creation on WWW.NCAA.ORG and WWW.NCCA.COM, and who also manages the social media strategy for over 1.4 million fans talk to them about it? This was an incredible opportunity for them!"

After a 40 minute presentation, Ronnie took questions from the Explorers, thanked them for their contribution to the community, and returned to his vacation.

The Clark County Sheriff's Office Explorer Program is a cooperative venture between the Clark County Sheriff's Office and the Boy Scouts of America.

Explorers provide non-enforcement assistance to the Sheriff's Office and serve their community through a wide variety of functions.
