Oregon State Police troopers are continuing the investigation into Tuesday afternoon's traffic crash involving a motorcycle and passenger car that injured two people on SE McLoughlin Boulevard at SE Silverleaf Lane in the Oak Grove area.
According to Trooper Jose Cortez, on July 24, 2012 at approximately 5:35 p.m. a 1999 Honda Civic four-door driven by CHARLES A. COBB, age 84, from Milwaukie, was northbound on SE McLoughlin Boulevard (Highway 99E) attempting to turn left from the center lane to SE Silverleaf Lane when a 2010 Honda motorcycle operated by SEAN T. KIRBY, age 39, from Milwaukie, changed lanes from the left to the right hand southbound lane and accelerated as the Honda was turning. The motorcycle crashed into the passenger side of the turning Honda, ejecting the motorcycle operator.
COBB was transported by AMR ambulance to Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) for treatment of minor injuries. He was using safety restraints.
KIRBY was transported by LifeFlight to OHSU for treatment of serious, non-life threatening injuries. He was wearing a protective helmet.
OSP troopers from the Portland Area Command office are continuing the investigation. No citations have been issued at this time.
