Fatal Traffic Crash - Highway 199 north of OR/CA Border

FATAL TRAFFIC CRASH - HIGHWAY 199 NORTH OF OR/CA BORDER

Oregon State Police (OSP) is continuing the investigation into Friday evening's single vehicle fatal traffic crash that resulted in the death of an adult female and injury to the male driver along Highway 199 in Josephine County. The names of the two occupants are withheld pending notification of the victim's next of kin.

According to Sergeant Jeff Allison, on July 13, 2012 at approximately 8:20 p.m. a Mazda sport utility vehicle driven by a 21-year old male was northbound on Highway 199 near milepost 40 when it traveled off the right side of the higwhay and collided into a tree.

A 65-year old female passenger was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver was transported by ambulance to Three Rivers Hospital with unknown injuries.

OSP troopers from the Grants Pass worksite are continuing the investigation into the cause of the crash. Senior Trooper Holsworth is the lead investigator.

OSP was assisted at the scene by Illinois Valley Fire & Rescue and ODOT. Traffic was reduced to one lane for 4 hours during the investigation.
