Oregon State Police (OSP) troopers are continuing the investigation into an early Monday morning fatal traffic crash on Highway 138W about eight miles west of Sutherlin that resulted in the death of a woman and minor injuries to a log truck driver. The victim's name will be released later this morning to allow family additional time for notifications.

According to Lieutenant Douglas Ladd, on July 16, 2012 at approximately 2:50 a.m. a 1996 Kenworth truck with an unloaded log trailer driven by KELLY K. KREMER, age 59, from Myrtle Creek, was westbound on Highway 138W near milepost 17. For an undetermined reason an eastbound 2000 Mazda four-door driven by a 28-year old Roseburg woman crossed the centerline and collided nearly head-on with the truck.

KREMER was transported by ambulance to Mercy Medical Center in Roseburg where he was treated and released for minor injuries. He was using safety restraints.

The Mazda's driver was pronounced deceased at the scene. She was not using safety restraints and was driving with a suspended operator's license.

OSP troopers from the Roseburg Area Command office are continuing the investigation. Douglas County Sheriff's Office, Sutherlin Police Department, and Kellogg Rural Fire District assisted at the scene.

The highway was closed about four hours. ODOT personnel assisted at the scene and were going to shuttle traffic through the area until the highway is cleared.
