The city of Beaverton recently received a $5,000 Washington County Visitors Association Tourism Development Grant to fund the Downtown Beaverton Walking Tour. The city will use the funds to create an integrated website highlighting the downtown area. It will also fund a brochure and interactive web-based map.

"It's our goal to bring more visitors into the heart of Beaverton and showcase where we were and where we are going in this reemerging area," said Mayor Denny Doyle. "We appreciate the support from the Washington County Visitors Association to help move this project forward."

The Downtown Beaverton Walking Tour and interactive website will highlight the area's unique features, including visitor attractions in the historic district, retail businesses, public art, entertainment and sustainability-related projects.

"This project will bring cohesiveness to Beaverton's downtown core and compliment the revitalization efforts currently underway," said Alma Flores, economic development manager.

The project compliments the Broadway Streetscape Design Project, which will improve the walkability of downtown Beaverton with increased signage, lighting and streetscape improvements.

The brochure and website will be completed in time for next year's summer activities. For more information, please contact Alma Flores, economic development manager, at 503-526-2456.
