Oregon State Police (OSP) troopers are continuing the investigation into the cause of Sunday evening's two-vehicle traffic crash on Highway 211 about four miles west of Molalla that resulted in the death of one person and serious injuries to two others. The names of the people involved in the crash are released in this update.

On June 3, 2012 at approximatelly 6:40 p.m. a 1993 Mercury Villager van driven by RICARDO GONZALEZ-LOPEZ, age 50, from Molalla, was southbound on Highway 211 near milepost 8 when it was involved in a head-on collision with a northbound 2008 GMC Acadia sport utility vehicle with two occupants. Initial witness information provided to troopers is that the Mercury van crossed the center line prior to the crash occurring.

GONZALEZ-LOPEZ was pronounced deceased at the scene. GONZALEZ-LOPEZ was only using the shoulder harness safety restraint and did not have the lap belt on. He was driving with a suspended driver's license.

Both occupants in the GMC were transported to Oregon Health & Sciences University (OHSU). According to OSHU, both are in serious condition. They are identified as driver DAVID WHEELER, age 66, and his wife, DIANE WHEELER, age 63, from Molalla. They were using safety restraints and their vehicle's airbags deployed.

OSP troopers from the Portland Area Command office are continuing the investigation.

OSP was assisted at the scene by Clackamas County Sheriff's Office, Molalla Police Department, Molalla Fire Department, and ODOT.

Highway 211 was closed at the scene for over 4 hours.
