Update:
On Wednesday, May 30th a Tip a Cop fundraising event was held at Mill Creek Pub in Battle Ground. Staff from the Clark County Sheriff's Office, in conjunction with Battle Ground Police Department and Riverview bank, served as "celebrity" servers. The money raised was for the Clark County Sheriff's Office honorary Sheriff, Carter Harris.
Carter, age 4, was diagnosed with leukemia in December of 2010 and is the oldest of three children.
The event was held from 5-8 pm and in just three hours, $1785 was raised to help with the families wish list and medical expenses. The Harris family and the Sheriff's Office would like to express our gratitude at this amazing outpouring of support.
Every two years, the Washington State Criminal Justice Training Commission sponsors the Chief for a Day event. The program is intended to inspire and motivate others to build partnerships and realize their dreams through celebrating the lives of children diagnosed with a life-threatening or chronic illness. The Chief for a Day celebration will be held in Burien, WA. on August 16th of this year.
Attached photo was taken by Rick Browne and he has given his permission for it to be used for this media release.
