Interstate 5 northbound lanes in north Albany reopened following Tuesday morning's non-injury crash involving a commercial truck transporting approximately 36,000 lbs of scrap metal.

According to Oregon State Police (OSP) Sergeant Eric Judah, on June 5, 2012 at approximately 11:25 a.m. a truck hauling approximately 36,000 lbs of scrap metal driven by DOUGLAS WEST, age 43, from Vancouver, Washington, was negotiating a right on-ramp curve from Century Drive NE to northbound Interstate 5 when it rolled on to its left side. A portion of the load spilled from the vehicle onto the freeway blocking both northbound lanes.

WEST was not injured and was cited by OSP for Careless Driving. He was driving for Joel Olson Trucking out of Vancouver.

ODOT coordinated clearing the scene, reopening the northbound lanes about 1:30 p.m.

OSP was also assisted at the scene by Linn County Sheriff's Office and Albany Fire Department.
